Vehicle Controls Overview

WABCO, our vehicle controls business, is a worldwide leader in commercial vehicle braking, stability, suspension and transmission control systems. The products developed by WABCO improve road and vehicle safety and reduce overall operating costs for vehicle and fleet owners. The world's leading truck, trailer, bus and passenger car manufacturers use our products because we deliver strong customer partnerships and leading technologies.

We are also a leader in improving highway safety – our products help drivers avoid accidents by improving vehicle responsiveness and stability.

For example, our stability control system for trucks and buses constantly monitors the vehicle's motion and dynamic stability. If the system detects danger— such as the driver swerving to avoid another vehicle — it responds by applying the brakes at specific wheels, or by slowing the vehicle down to prevent instability or a rollover.

Another advanced product is electronically controlled air suspension system (ECAS) for commercial vehicles. It uses compressed air instead of steel springs to deliver improved road handling, driver comfort and fuel efficiency. Audi, BMW, DaimlerChrysler, Ford, GM, Land Rover, Porsche, Renault and Volkswagen have selected this system for automobiles and SUVs.

Our name, WABCO, originally stood for Westinghouse Air Brake Company. Today, we're applying our expertise with air and brakes to improve the performance of buses, trucks, trailers, passenger cars and other vehicles, throughout the life of the vehicle. And to help make roads safer for everyone to drive on.
