As we build American Standard into the best place to work, we will continue to be an environmentally responsible neighbor in the communities in which we operate.

At a minimum, American Standard requires knowledge of and strict compliance with all applicable national, state, provincial and local laws and regulations for the protection of the environment by each of our business units. We also encourage efforts beyond legal requirements where there are opportunities to improve environmental protection. In addition, we will:

• Communicate honestly and openly with our employees, as well as our neighbors, customers, shareholders, and government agencies about the nature of our operations and products and their relationship to the environment,
  
  
• Continue to design products, processes and operating facilities worldwide that are environmentally sound, prevent pollution, conserve resources and energy, minimize the use of hazardous materials and reduce waste,
  
  
• Require our business units to set aggressive and achievable environmental goals, consistent with American Standard's corporate goals and objectives,
  
  
• Establish and maintain environmental metrics that are global, timely, and understandable,
  
  
• Strive to integrate environmental protection into our business activities and processes, and
  
  
• Continually look for opportunities to make our environmental performance better.

We expect all employees to be mindful of the environmental impact of their actions. We will provide environmental training for our employees where appropriate. The leadership team at all our facilities is responsible for ensuring that our environmental standards are shared with each employee and maintained throughout our facilities. All employees have a duty to report any environmental concern to their leadership team. It is expected that prompt action will be taken concerning any environmental situation inconsistent with our high standards and that the company's senior management team will be advised immediately of any adverse situation.
